Summary/Abstract |
Tom Sawyer is a mischievous young boy with an undying hunger for adventure, and a knack for getting into trouble. He lives with his Aunt Polly in the Mississippi River town of St Petersburg, Missouri. He plays hooky from school; hangs around with Huck Finn, the unsophisticated son of the village drunkard; and deceives his friends into trading their treasures with him.
Tom falls in love with Becky Thatcher, a new arrival in town, who returns his affection initially, and even agrees to an 'engagement'. However, after a slip of the tongue from Tom, she walks off in a huff.
From innocent and imaginary adventures, Tom's life suddenly takes a new turn. One night, while Tom and Huck Finn are in a graveyard, they witness an incident they should not have. Terrified, they flee from the spot, and swear a blood oath that they will never reveal their secret to anyone.
Tom and Huck then find themselves entangled in a series of real and exciting adventures, with dangerous men constantly at their heels.
Can the boys stand up to the occasion, and become real-life heroes? Will they ever be able to reclaim their normal, carefree lives again?

Summary/Abstract |
Graphic Novel. Ivory Coast, 1978. It's a golden time, and the nation, too-an oasis of affluence and stability in West Africa-seems fueled by something wondrous. Aya is loosely based upon Marguerite Abouet's youth in Yop City. It is the story of the studious and clear-sighted nineteen-year-old Aya, her easygoing friends Adjoua and Bintou, and their meddling relatives and neighbors. It's a wryly funny, breezy account of the simple pleasures and private troubles of everyday life in Yop City.

Summary/Abstract |
The sixth century BC was a watershed period in the history of India. The north of India then was politically fragmented, with a number of kingdoms and perhaps a few republics. It was Bimbisara, the Emperor of Magadha, who for the first time brought these kingdoms together under the rule of a single authority. This was further consolidated by his son and successor, Ajatashatru. This account of their life and times has been reconstructed from references, sometimes divergent, from Buddhist and Jain Literature. Both the sources claim the two kings as adherents of their respective faiths.

Summary/Abstract |
It is the story of Vladek Speigelman, a Jewish survivor of Hitler's Europe, and his son, a cartoonist coming to terms with his father's story. Maus approaches the unspeakable through the diminutive. Its form, the cartoon (the Nazis are cats, the Jews mice), shocks us out of any lingering sense of familiarity. Maus is a haunting tale within a tale. Vladek's harrowing story of survival is woven into the author's account of his tortured relationship with his aging father. Against the backdrop of guilt brought by survival, they stage a normal life of small arguments and unhappy visits. This astonishing retelling of our century's grisliest news is a story of survival, not only of Vladek but of the children who survive even the survivors. Maus studies the bloody pawprints of history and tracks its meaning for all of us. The author-illustrator traces his father's imprisonment in a Nazi concentration camp through a series of disarming and unusual cartoons arranged to tell the story as a novel.
