Summary/Abstract |
The sculptor's choice of title for this recent suite of figures intrigues us. The expression of the 'Freehold' figures is beatific, serenely indifferent to the inexorable passage of the seasons, the vagaries of history, themselves mercurially and prodigally into an assembly of scintillating avatars, Musui and Maiya metamorphose into many people and many things: they subsume a diversity of epochs and cultures, predicaments and scenarios.

Summary/Abstract |
This book is a photographic reproduction of paintings by Laxman Shreshtha, b. 1939, Nepali painter. Shreshtha's abstract works are both sensuous and meditative in their shifts and balances of colour. Celebrated as an abstractionist, Laxman Shrestha's works are intricately related to his life's journey and struggles. Though abstract, his paintings have a sense of intrigue in them, and are often described as 'soul searching' .He has taken the genre of landscape painting to new heights and dimensions. A Van Gogh admirer, he believes that "Passion, honesty and determination" are the three qualities that are most important for an artist.
