When a crocodile replies that she likes to eat wide-mouthed frogs, the little fellow suddenly becomes a "small narrow-mouthed frog" and hops away. The text is simple but filled with dialogue, making this a natural for toddler time. The story is well paced, featuring new animals on each two-page spread, with nicknames like Big Thumping Feet, Three Long Toes, etc. The bright, lively illustrations have a minimum of detail and show a variety of smiling animals in primary colors. A fun choice for storyhours or one-on-one sharing.
