Summary/Abstract |
The epic poem which recounts the heroic story of Aeneas, a Trojan who escapes the burning of Troy to found Lavinium, the parent city of Rome, was composed by Vergil , the greatest Roman poet the world has known.
It took him over a decade for its composition and the world owes its preservation to Emperor Augustus, who had commissioned the work of fashioning a workable governemnt to Vergil.
