Summary/Abstract |
The 1999 Kargil War brought out the best in Indian soldiers. Lieutenant Manoj Pandey was instrumental in throwing the enemy forces out from the Batalik sector. Lieutenant Manoj Pandey could always be counted upon as someone who took up the most difficult challenges in the Army. His unmatched daredevilry is what enabled him to destroy four Pakistani posts during this war. He charged towards the last bunker with a grenade in his hand and the war cry 'ayo gorkhali' on his lips the many guns that pointed at him ineffective in inciting any fear in the braveheart.

Summary/Abstract |
The very first recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest gallantry award in the face of enemy, Major Somnath Sharma exemplified unwavering valour in the face of death. Undeterred by an injury, Major Sharma was instrumental in setting up defensive position in Badgam, a village about 8 miles south-east of Srinagar and stopped the raiders from reaching and taking control of the Srinagar airport in october 1947. Major Sharma played a pivotal role in foiling the enemy's plan at the cost of his own life.
Outnumbered by the raiders, he and his company stopped the raiders till reinforcements arrived to destroy the enemy. His leadership, courage and personal example has inspired and will continue to motivate officers and men of the indian army.

Summary/Abstract |
Battles, protests, standoffs, strikes. We hear about them all the time. On the surface, a battle and a protest don't seem to have much in common, but they're really just two ways of handling a dispute. One uses violence, the other uses signs and picket lines. But both start as a disagreement between two groups of people. Both are conflicts. Using real world examples, Why Do We Fight? teaches kids to recognize the structures, factors, and complex histories that go into creating conflicts, whether personal or global, as well as the similarities between both. They'll be given tools to seek out information, enabling them to make informed opinions while learning to respect that others may form different ones.
