| Summary/Abstract |
In medieval Europe, an Arab nursemaid, Jenane, raises two "sons" on a feudal estate. One is her own Asmar, a dark haired and dark-eyed boy, and the other is Azur, the blond and blue-eyed son of the master. As children, they fight and love each other as brothers do. As adults, they mercilessly become rivals in the quest for the dijinn's fairy, in a medieval Maghreb, full of dangers, magic spells, and wonders.
