Summary/Abstract |
Amélie, a young waitress in a bar in Montmartre, spends her time observing people and letting her imagination wander. She has set a goal: to do good for those around her. She invents stratagems to intervene incognito in their existence.
The path of Amelie is marked by encounters: Georgette, the hypochondriacist; Lucien, the grocery clerk; Madeleine Wallace, the concierge carried on the port and stuffed dogs; Raymond Dufayel alias "the man of glass", his neighbor who lives only through a reproduction of a painting by Renoir.
This quest for happiness brings Amélie to make the acquaintance of Nino Quincampoix, a strange "prince charming". This one divides his time between a ghost train and a sex shop , and seeks to identify an unknown whose photo reappears incessantly in several booths of Photomaton.
