Summary/Abstract |
Enduring Epics traces the recreations of mythological narratives through contemporary art forms. Raghupati Bhat has mastered the art of painting metaphysical themes in stick figures with sharp pointed features. A translucent imagery in petite renderings and fine recreations of mythological narratives mark Raghupati Bhat s artscape. His vast creative repertoire includes imaginative representations of characters and episodes from literary works, such as Ramayana and Mahabharata, and an expanse of Ganjifa work (intricate paintings on small playing cards). His drawings and paintings, metaphysical in their ethos, bring alive the pantheons and narratives described in classical and folk literature. Enduring Epics includes over eighty-six mostly small paintings of the artist.

Summary/Abstract |
Bharti is one the first artists whose work we incorporated into MOSA’s collection and the first with a sufficient number of works at MOSA to make a show. Dealing with her through the years has been inspiring, as she completely loves and identifies with this form of art. Her mastery of the tradition and her capacity to bring it out in contemporary media like acrylic and canvas have made her an ambassador to the modern world of this ancient art of Mithila. She is in love with both the tradition and its themes. The themes of Krishna, Radha and the gopis permeates her artwork.
