Description42p   Blue Spine
NoteThe Box (pitara) opens and outcomes poems (Kavitayein) brought to life by the grandmother (dadi), of different shapes, sizes, colours, seasons, emotions – words woven together to create magic.

With this first anthology of Hindi poems, begins Ms Devyani Mungali’s journey as a writer. Through her poems, we enter the realm of fantasy where an elephant groom insists on riding a horse for his marriage procession (baraat) and a Froggie dreams of turning into a prince on being kissed by a princess, where animals in the jungle flex their muscles to get the role of ‘Bahubali’ and the drama that unfolds when a fish catches a cold. The reader gets a sneak peek into the pure heart and thoughts of a child when he writes a letter to God on a kite, inviting him home to complain about adults.

The poems find a mention of colloquial words like ‘Agdam-Bagdam’ and ‘Ghumakkad’, which may soon become extinct if not revived in the literary circles.

This first collection treats its young readers to a variety of fresh poems.
